Quickly tune your guitar to Drop D or a full step down – mobile phone ready

  • Full step down tuning (6-string and 7 string guitars)
  • Drop-D-tuning
  • Drop-A tuning

Use this to tune down two half steps down, to a ‘drop D tuning‘ or ‘dropped d tuning’. To get back to a normal tuning, simply use the Online Guitar Tuner.

The first set of notes is for a full step down tuning, where every string is tuned down two half steps.

The second set is for when you want to tune do a standard Drop D tuning, like Lamb Of God, where only the low E-string is tuned down to D and the rest is tuned to standard pitch ( for more information read Drop D tuning and deeper).

Use the third set of notes when you want to tune a 7-string guitar a full step down. If you combine the lowest note of this set, the low A, with the standard notes of the standard guitar tuner, you will get the equivalent of the dropped D tuning, but for 7-string guitars. This tuning is called ‘drop A tuning’ or ‘dropped A tuning’.

To use the reference notes simply click the respective audio files. The audio player is HTML5 and plays back on mobile phones.
